Important COVID Update

After evaluation of the efficacy and safety data of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccination, the FDA has granted approval for use in all individuals over the age of 16. The vaccine continues to be available under emergency use authorization for all individuals over the age of 12. The Moderna and Janssen Covid 19 vaccines remain available under emergency authorization use for all individuals age 18 and older as well.

OB GYN Associates stands firmly by the recommendations set forth by The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine that ALL pregnant and lactating individuals should obtain Covid 19 vaccination.

With the understanding of the mechanism of these vaccines and mounting evidence supplied by the over 140,000 pregnant individuals who have received these vaccinations thus far, we deem the benefits to outweigh any possible risk. The ultimate decision to receive the Covid-19 vaccination belongs to the patient and their decision to receive the vaccine will not affect their standard of care in our office. Please consult your physician specifically if you have unique concerns regarding your health condition and the vaccination.

We are confident this vaccination alongside masks and proper social distancing can bring a swifter end to our public health crisis. For reference, please see the position statements of ACOG and SMFM.
